“Darden Smith brought creativity to a new high at The Iowa Children's Museum
with his “Be An Artist” workshop. Kids of all ages learned first-hand how
to be poets, singers, and performers as they created a highly energetic song
titled “I Had a Bad Day”. We can’t wait to bring Darden back for more of his unique, creative style to help us all realize that “We’re all artists”!

Darden Smith Darden Smith began writing songs at 10, and was playing music in clubs in Houston, TX by 17. Over the last two decades he has released 11 albums and toured extensively throughout the US and Europe. In 1993 his song, ‘Loving Arms’ was a top ten radio hit in the US. ‘After All This Time’ reached #3 on England’s BBC Radio2 in 2001. His television appearances include The Tonight Show, Austin City Limits and The Today Show among others. He has written music for dance theater, television and radio commercials and in 1999 his work, ‘Grand Motion’ was commissioned by the Austin Symphony Orchestra. A new theater work, ‘Marathon’ is currently in production. In 2005 he produced a documentary on Texas songwriting, ‘Songs From The Big Sky,’ for BBC Radio2.
